UNIQUE TECHNIQUE
        PASTEL ON SUEDE BOARD

Artist Natalie Winters has developed a unique approach using soft pastels on suede board.  She applies color and shape to the board layer by layer.  Using her fingers, she massages the colors into the board, creating depth, warmth and feeling in each piece.  Her flowers have been cited in the Tampa Tribune.  Owners of her work say, "she has a velvet touch."

Winters says that she experiences herself in each piece because it is such a tactile method of working.  Her precise work is frequently mistaken for photographs.  Sometimes her feathery and loose approach creates more of a fantasy mood, an affect she creates using fingernails and knuckles.  There are no additional tools used, her hands are her tools.
